Health care workers walk off job in Tukwila

http://www.kirotv.com/news/news/health-care-workers-walk-job-tukwila/nmGYJ/

On Thursday, 100 nurses and health care workers are walking off the job and onto the picket lines in Tukwila.

Workers at Cascade Behavioral Hospital say they're too short staffed to give patients the care they need.

They'll join hundreds of hospital workers who've been striking all night in Bellingham.

Wednesday morning, 900 workers at Peace Health Saint Joseph Medical Center walked off the job amid stalled union negotiations. Their strike ends Thursday morning, but the hospital won't let them back to work until Saturday.

It's where my spouse lived when we met and married, a few decades ago. Before long, he wanted to return to his native state, the one just to the south of WA, and we've been here since. Still together after all these years--Tukwila got us off to a good start, I guess. Anyway, back on topic--I know someone who's employed at Peace Health in Bellingham, just dropped a note to ask about the strike, since there's not a word about it (that I could find) in their local newspapers. My contact did tell me there's a hiring freeze there, which doesn't bode well for the short-staffed issue, or the patients whose needs they meet. Thanks for this post--hope you'll keep us updated.

Blessings.
