Grays Harbor killings, seeking racist suspects

The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Department is searching for the driver of a white pickup truck that witnesses say ran over two men, with one man dying Sunday night in Tacoma General Hospital and the other transferred there with complications to his injuries.

A Sheriff’s Department news release said the suspect was seen driving recklessly doing doughnuts on a gravel bar at the Donkey Creek Campgrounds in the Humptulips area of Grays Harbor County on Saturday morning at about 1:30. Some of the campers who witnessed the incident say they initially got upset at the driver’s driving behavior and told him to stop, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

After that report was released publicly, the Quinault Indian Nation also issued a news release to add additional details and correct the initial information. That release identified the deceased victim as James Kramer, 20, of Taholah, and the other surviving victim as Harvey Anderson, 19 of Aberdeen.

The truck is described as a mid-1990s Chevy with an extended cab and large tires. “The driver was screaming racial slurs and war whoops when he ran over the two tribal members,” said the Quinault Nation news release. The driver was described in both accounts as a 30-35 year old white male with dark hair and a short beard. There was also a female passenger in the vehicle who was described as a 30-year-old with dark hair....(more)
