Report: Two coyotes in Ballard got drunk on craft beer

According to a report on My Ballard, it may be time to watch your local growlers.

Last week, the neighborhood paper reported on one reader who mentioned in their Facebook group that she had used some beer to create slug and snail traps for her yard. She noticed the morning after putting them out that they were already empty and so she refilled them -- only to find them being lapped up by two coyotes the next morning.

My Ballard talked to King County's district wildlife biologist Chris Anderson who said that yes, coyotes can get drunk (just like dogs can), but it might change their behavior and cause them to let their guard down.

Noting that coyotes will always be around, it's best to know how to get rid of them -- make noise, haze them, etc. -- so that they don't make a habit of checking your yard.

Use Milwaukee beer and any refined coyote will leave it alone.
