How far does $100K go in Seattle? It's better than some California cities, but not by much
If you earn a $100,000 salary, then you're well ahead of the median worker in the U.S. But if you live in Seattle, it's harder to make that money go as far as in other major U.S. cities.
A new report from GOBankingRates.com ranks the 50 most populous cities in the U.S. by how much money would be left from a $100,000 salary after subtracting necessary expenses such as taxes, groceries, rent, utilities, health care and driving costs.
Seattle ranks in the bottom 10, according to the report.
But in San Francisco, $100,000 doesn't go far enough. There, residents end up with a deficit of more than $2,000 after taxes and expenses, according to the GOBankingRates report.
