Morgantown, West Virginia, businessman accused in Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol rioting might go on trial in late April or May


CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — The judge in the trial for a Morgantown businessman and his codefendant accused in the Jan. 6 Capitol rioting told the lawyers Friday that he’d like to set the case for trial in late April or May.

George Pierre Tanios, 39, remains on pretrial release in Morgantown in the federal case out of District of Columbia U.S. District Court.

Codefendant Julian Elie Khater, 32, of State College, Pennsylvania, remains jailed in the District of Columbia.

Tanios and Khater have pleaded not guilty and are presumed innocent.

Senior U.S. District Judge Thomas F. Hogan told Northern West Virginia Assistant Federal Defender Beth Gross, for Tanios, attorney Chad Seigel, for Khater, and Department of Justice prosecutors Anthony Scarpelli and Gilead Light that he wanted to reserve a space for the trial.

That attack led to Brian’s death. He gets to go and visit family because it is difficult for them to visit him because they are old. Brian is dead, he does not get to visit anyone, his family gets to visit his grave.
