Owner says state Democrats trashed historic house
By Caitlin Cook, Staff writer
Local attorney Cynthia Evans claims her historic home was damaged by the West Virginia Democratic Party, which rented the space from September to November. Evans alleges workers destroyed her antique couch, which had been ripped and vomited on.

Charleston attorney Cynthia Evans walked into her Kanawha Boulevard office Wednesday to people laid out on furniture with towels on their heads, vomit on the floors, rugs and furniture and a slew of alcohol bottles scattered around the historic riverfront home, she said.

The space at 2510 Kanawha Blvd. was rented to the West Virginia Democratic Party.

Evans alleges her home resembled a frat house when she walked into the space for the first time since turning it over to campaign workers in September. “It’s semi cleaned right now because I stayed here until 5:30 yesterday with the workers and made them clean it because I was not going to clean up their mess,” Evans said. “You can smell a little bit of what was here still, unfortunately.” ...

...The West Virginia Democratic Party sent out a statement on the alleged damage saying, “we’re looking into the situation and working with the property owner to take the appropriate steps forward to resolve the issue.”....
