Iron cty reminds me of lemon car I had long ago. I kept putting money into it--every so often--more often as time went on that I did not want to get rid of it because of the money in it. But finally bit the bullet and traded it off. Best thing I ever did. Past time for Iron CTY to give GTac the boot.

What a sad day for Iron County - Some Numbers

Tonight at the Iron County board meeting chairman, Joe Pinardi, announced that last Thursday they were told that Gogebic Taconite could not afford to make the $20,000 biannual lease option payment on the 3,331 acres of Iron County land - land which the mining company absolutely needs to build their mountain top removal mine.
The contract, the lease, plainly says that the lease/option is cancelled, over, done, kaput, if the payment was not made by 5:00 PM yesterday. GTac defaulted!
What did the little boys on the Iron County board do? Without board approval, or any argument, or even an agenda item, they gave GTac and Mr. Cline a one year extension on the lease option with no payment. We won't even comment on whether or not it was legal to do that without an agenda item and full board approval.
We would only like to point out a few very sad facts:.......
