Scott Walker pitches his arena assistance proposal as a model in conservativism

By Tom Kertscher of the Journal Sentinel
Jan. 27, 2015

....."This is something we may promote to other chambers and other elected officials -- mayors and governors -- across the country," Walker said at a news conference.

"Because I think this is one of the most creative ways of doing this in the country. Because you can look someone in the face and say there's not a penny in new taxes and there's not a penny that comes out of our current revenue stream. This is all based on growth.

.......Meanwhile, the conservative Americans for Prosperity for Wisconsin expressed disappointment:

“While it appears that some protections are being put into place, the governor’s plan would put the state and taxpayers on the hook for future obligations," the group said in a statement. "Funding for sports arenas should not be the responsibility of the state and the hard-working taxpayers of Wisconsin."

earmark dollars currently going into the general fund( bucks players pay taxes) to specifically pay arena debt.
Just create a bigger hole in the general fund.....

smoke and mirrors

The annual payment required to amortize a $220M bond over 20 years at 3%?

$15,000,000.

Current revevenue from players?

Little less than $7M.

So Walker is projecting this revenue to TRIPLE in 3-4 years (has to increase BY $15M).

Walker must have left his math classes for his senior year!
