Hey Wisconsin: turns out Scott Walker's just not that into you anymore. (X-posted in Politics 2015)

From yesterday's NYT (emphasis mine):

In an interview, Mr. Walker said he was unconcerned about the appearance of spending so much time and energy courting donors, noting that he expected to do plenty of retail campaigning in the months ahead.

“Oh, I think along the way I’ll be at plenty of dairy events and farm events and factories just like when I was governor,” Mr. Walker said.

Ah yes, when you were Governor. I assume Scotty will now stop drawing a salary, since he apparently no longer sees himself as Governor.

but what about the people that elected him a second time? I'd like to see the breakdown of that demographic.

Milwaukee Suburbanites (Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington Counties) who listen to Sykes every day and fear/dislike black people who live in the city, assorted low-information rednecks/teabaggers, and the religious right.

Equally culpable are the Democrats who can't be bothered to vote in off-year elections.

I miss him. I fear that the republican attack on education has crippled your lovely State. Michigan has failed. Being from Minnesota I always loved the border battles. Two great moderate States.

I used to work with a woman who lived in Wisconsin that told the story about her son being bullied at school. She told her son that if he came home beat up from school again, she would give him another beating. These are the majority type people I can't help but think live in 'Sconnie. I know that is unfair. I certainly hope things get better.

Yeah, we have jerks of the type you describe, but not enough to explain why Walker is 3-0. It's more than that. Feingold by all indications will run for his old seat in '16 and I think he will win. We also elected Tammy Baldwin. Just a really weird state politically. Always has been- we gave the country Fightin' Bob Lafollette and Russ Feingold, but also Joe McCarthy and Paul Ryan. It's hard to figure.

I also enjoy the rivalry- as a UW grad I am a huge Badger fan and have always loved the games for the Ax, the bball games both at Williams and at our old place and now the Kohl. And we used to have a hockey team once...they even beat the Gophs from time to time

We will see what the future holds. I hope for the best- I have to, because I live here, I'm from here, and for family reasons I can't leave.

Here's a link to an interactive map for 2014 compared to 2010 a couple more central WI counties went blue, we lost the SE

IMO, Walker's demographic is mostly "angry white guys who've had enough s'portin wise-guys who kill jobs (pro-environment types, DNR scientists, ex-urbanites, and nature tourists) and lazy people who cause taxes (i.e welfare recipients of color)"

They're the reason hate radio (Sykes, Belling) is so effective. And thanks for posting that map. It's been the same 5-6% margin every time.

So let me ask you...what do you think it will take to beat him? Because I frankly don't know. I thought both Barrett and Burke were okay candidates- not exciting or ideal, but not awful.
