UW-Platteville shut down due to someone carrying a weapon on campus
Ugh.
UW Platteville officials say a witness reported seeing a man with a gun in a restroom, causing the campus to shut down.
Police swept campus to search for a suspect and believe the campus is now safe. No one was arrested and no shots were fired.
Chancellor Dennis Shields said the witness heard a clicking and saw the muzzle of a gun underneath a bathroom stall in Ullsvik Hall. The witness left the bathroom and called police.
The suspect was described as a man wearing gray sweatpants but no other description was available. Police believe the suspect was likely a student. The witness believed the gun was an AK-47 assault rifle, but police could not confirm the type of gun.
I'm glad everyone is OK and hope whoever this clown is he gets caught soon.
And I hope Scott Wanker and his band of bleepsticks in Madison don't look at this as an excuse to change the laws to allow guns on campus.
