Computers down for hours for people in line for early voting......

Oh yah, talk about suppressing the vote, just shut down the computers:

Computer servers for Wisconsin state agencies went down this morning.

According to the Attorney for the Government Accountability Board, Election clerks couldn't access the voter registration system, preventing them from issuing absentee ballots and printing poll books.

Clerks were able to get access to the system by about Noon.

Early voting ended Friday at 5:00 p.m.

1. It is pretty amazing the similarities among the various states that encounter voting problems, and

who it affects. And there are many right here on DU that think there isn't a problem, which in itself is a problem.

We have no problem monitoring elections in other countries to make sure they go the "Right way". So why do we have such a big problem with other countries monitoring our elections to make sure they are fair and above board?

2. The time is long past due to bring in the UN election monitoring team

I hope we do and get fair paper ballots, with a clear and secure chain of custody, counted with UN monitors present, and for the non-existent voter fraud right wing enthusiasts fantasize about, purple fingers should allay their imaginary fears.

5. Those purple fingers work quite well, even in 3rd World countries, so there should be no reason why

that can't work among the [strike]illiterate[/strike] low information voters over here. It would sure make a big dent in the voter fraud argument, that's for sure.

32. Because we stupidly allow

states to run their elections. The fed must set up a standard for everyone, then actually enforce it

12. Wiconsin is open...

here's a link to a fairly decent site but you will have to scroll past a photo of DWS on you way down near the bottom to find the chart!

There aren't many open ones left----

was a website specifically touting each state's voting regulations/laws - but it was found to have many erroneous entries.

25. Wisc. has new Voter ID law (suppression law)

The new voter ID law has hampered many from voting. They say as many as 350,000!

People have reported needing to go back and forth a few times with documents to prove who they are to get an ID, many not able to do the back and forth and/or just give up.

This is Repuke Governor Scott Walker at work in Wisc. Disenfranchising voters.

we might not have known the precise problem that was going to occur or where it was going to occur, but we knew it was going to happen.

registrations. Digital voter registration systems that integrate with our digital voting software MUST GO!

22. Big data and the cloud... what could go wrong. Fuck Google and the talking cars... we have real

problems that need to be solved. While silicon valley showers itself with cash in a delusional high tech orgy, the worlds problems are getting worse, not better.

So sick of hearing about the latest talking self driving car and fancy robot and chess playing IBM.

These mega corporations do not have our best interests at stake. They have their best interests at stake.

…way we are sliding towards "Banana Republic". Not that I'm okay with the designation, because it's demeaning to countries we've exploited—but I don't know another term for the effects of rule by the oligarchy over the 99%.

34. Just posted this in G.D.

"300,000 legally registered voters could find themselves unable to vote at all under state Republicans' disenfranchising Photo ID voting restriction, implemented for the first time in a major election this Tuesday.

Similarly ominous signs for the GOP, with growing evidence to suggest the party may be locked and loaded for a contentious and contested national nominating convention in Cleveland, as Trump may be fading and one (once?) powerful Republican calling for the nomination to go to a "fresh face". Good luck with that.

But there's some good news amongst the omens. An encouraging March jobs report; An infamous 'Wall Street Godfather' explains why he believes Bernie Sanders would be best for the economy; St. Louis, MO is set to use only paper ballots in their local elections on Tuesday (that's a mixed omen); A federal judge kills Mississippi's ban on adoption by same-sex couples; And there's even some encouraging news today amongst more ominous signs in our latest Green News Report today with Desi Doyen. What are the odds of that? Good luck, world!…"
