Washington –

The NRSC released the following statement regarding Democrat Scott Harbach’s entry into the Wisconsin Senate race:

"We congratulate Wisconsin Democrats on finally securing a Senate candidate who will not be forced to answer for his blatant campaign finance hypocrisy, scam PAC, eroding principles, 270+ votes in support of higher taxes, and dangerously weak foreign policy record in Washington," said Andrea Bozek, NRSC Communications Director. "Regardless of which candidate emerges from the Democrat primary, businessman Ron Johnson's strong leadership for our economic prosperity and our national security will provide the ultimate contrast to Mr. Harbach and Senator Russ Feingold."

Harbach’s entry comes as the deeply divided Democratic Party of Wisconsin faces charges from its own delegates of running a "corrupt" and "rigged" system. DPW also faces questions as to whether its upcoming convention will become the latest to see "sparks" between supporters of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

we do actually sorta have to show up for the primary....imagine how stupid we would look if russ does not get on the fall ballot

"Wisconsin's U.S. Senate race is a battleground race in 2016. Incumbent Ron Johnson (R) is seeking re-election to his second term in 2016 and will face no primary challenger. On the other side of the aisle, former Senator Russ Feingold will face Scott Harbach in the Democratic primary. Johnson is very likely to face a rematch with Feingold in November. Feingold represented Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate from 1993 to 2011 and was ousted by Johnson in 2010. Libertarian candidate Phil Anderson has also filed to run. The primary elections will take place on August 9, 2016. The general election will take place on November 8, 2016.[2][3][1]"

For example, in Milwaukee County there are NO Republicans running in the primary against each other (except in Paul Ryan's district), so they will be free to vote on the Democratic side for whoever they like. A number of Milwaukee's Democratic seats have primaries, including Russ, Gwen Moore, several legislative members, and DA John Chisholm. You can bet the right wing talk radio folks will be telling their audience what to do.

To find out if you have Democratic primaries in your area, go to http://www.gab.wi.gov/ and look in the center column for Candidates on Ballot August 9 Partisan Primary (it's a pdf). There are very few Republican primaries, and that is scary.

All the parties are included on the ballot you are given. You can vote on any party's list, but only on one list in any given election.

When we forced recall elections against several state senators in 2011 the Republicans forced our candidates to beat their fake Democrats in primaries before the recall election. It took money, time and effort to do so.

Sneaky bastards, those Republicans.

He is a favorite contributor on Fox News but runs in the Democratic primary and wins with the help of right-wing radio, which turns out the vote in the Republican suburbs. The county Democratic Party always breaks tradition to endorse and support his real Democratic opponent, but it hasn't worked yet.
