Wisconsin
Related: About this forumI would like to thank the people of Wisconsin for my Badgercare health insurance
When I was forced from my previous job. Not being able to get unemployment because I technically quit and not wanting a legal battle, my family was left without any income and not much savings. The costs was COBRA would have left us unable to pay bills or pay for food within a couple of months. To make matters worse, I had just found out that I was pregnant. I applied and got Badger Care for myself and my family. In my job search, I took comfort in knowing that if I had to, I could take a job that offered no health insurance or only unaffordable low coverage health insurance.
After 2 months, I was able to get a job that offered insurance, although did have a short waiting period. Since I was still making slightly under the income eligibility guidelines, I kept this insurance until I got my employer sponsored health insurance. Although I would still be technically eligible for Badger Care, I have elected to be a responsible tax payer and save the state money or allow others who need it more than I do now to use it.
I am glad that Wisconsin has this program and wish that it was available in all states to all people. Health care is important to everyone.
Thanks.

People who aren't healthy sometimes can't work and that is bad for everyone.
