How in all hell could the WI RePugs be "more motivated" than the Dems????

I read today there is a poll with Walker at 50% and Barrett at 44% and the pollsters are saying that this is a result of the RePugs being "more likely to vote." Yes, they are spending tons of cash, but how in hell could this be happening after the horrid rotten corrupt policies and comments of this horrid rotten Governor? What has to happen? Does this guy have to actually unveil his horns and spade-ended tail before every single Dem and most of the Indies there beat the doors down to get rid of him? What else does Walker have to do? Commit a homicide? What the hell are people even thinking? Kudos who to all who have marched, worked, and donated, but if the good people of WI let this rotten horrid devil remain in office, well then, sorry, but they deserve exactly what they get. I myself, from Maine, have donated repeatedly, done remote phonebanking, and even sent pizza to the protesters last year. C'mon people. Get it done.

You can point out how bad the policies are all you want, they'll just dig in deeper. Plus Koch/Walker is outspending the good guys 25 to 1.

a lot of our current crop of dems are big supporters of organized labor.

After talking about finding a pair of "comfortable shoes" to "walk a picket line" in

the '08 campaign, you can see how rapidly and enthusiastically our prez

got involved with the push back by public unions in the midwest last winter.

I find it immeasurably discouraging.

11. Failure to see ALEC and all the other rightwing legislative boiler rooms as a national issue

is in large part how MANY states got into the current mess.

As Walker says It's divide and conquer. The corporatists have been buying up state legislatures and getting their way.

Labor in the US is screwed because of the belief by Democrats that somehow a continental pattern made up of 'local' issues is unworthy of national concern.

13. Sorry, but if this was just a "state matter" why do you think the RNC is throwing money at it?

As they said "We're 'all in' for the Recall"....The obvious question, is

then why isn't the DNC "all in" for the Recall?

In case you don't know, this is happening in SEVERAL states with Repug governors and

it has undeniable NATIONAL implications, as it's part of a NATIONAL Republican template to destroy unions,

something they've been working hard at since the Reagan Administration.

FYI: Collective bargaining is a LONG time, signature issue for the

national Democratic party, and so, yes, I AM blaming the national party

as are a Hundred Thousand other democrats who, by last Wednesday morning

had petitioned the DNC to support the Recall.

3. Well setting aside that they love a fight and when backed by $20 million they love to fight more.

And I'm not kidding. The thought of stickin' it to teachers and public workers makes their little hearts skip beats.

Remember that it's not all about recalling Walker. There are more senate recalls, and Dems only need one to end the ALEC party's monopoly of power.

WEAC and teachers in general have become the most hated group in the state....how the hell did we let that happen?

9. I dunno, but I suspect that somehow it is related to America's love for 'reality' tv
Fri May 18, 2012, 09:21 AM

We don't learn to appreciate teachers watching the reality tv.

We learn to appreciate crab fisherman, gold miners, alligator hunters, junk dealers, 16 year old parents, professional athletes (& their dancing ability), NASCAR drivers etc. I don't mean to say that anyone doing any of those things can't or shouldn't be appreciated.

We live within a culture that celebrates knowledge as triva to be held handy in the event of encountering the Cash Cab, or as a key to understanding jokes on Big Bang Theory.

It might be that we don't so much hate teachers but that we are desperately tired of teachers interfering with our 'realities'--literature classes may need to include very much more noodling of catfish than pondering Leaves Of Grass.

think that Walker is one of them. They always have voted R just because 'those people' vote Dem. it's all based on fear of others doing something bad to them not on any rational reason. It's just fear and blindness to what Walker is.

12. IIRC, this poll (like most polls released this week) was taken right after the primary.

First point: The Barrett campaign had barely gotten their message out on the airwaves. While I think every primary candidate should have been spending money against Wanker, they didn't. So give the candidate a little time to work some magic before you dump on WI voters.

Second point: While there is a segment of crazy-ass pukes who go to the polls every time, and it appears they made a concerted effort to get out on May 8th, this election, as with the senate recalls last summer, will come down to turnout. All polls can do at this point is what you're letting them do to you - dump on the effort in some fashion and decide not to go vote (not that you can because you're in Maine). So it would be nice if you weren't so quick to jump on the "why fucking bother" bandwagon.

it's practically 24/7 talk about how great Walker is. It's like free advertising (like he needs more of that). There are plenty of people who listen to that crap, and nearly AM station has at least one blubbering idiot spewing hate.

Also...there are Walker signs everywhere. They've got the money to give out free or cheap signs, the Dems don't...and we didn't have a candidate until a couple of weeks ago, so signs are more difficult to come by.
