MADISON (WLUK) -- New COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin ticked up in the latest report from the Department of Health Services.

The seven-day average increased to 1,482, with 1,799 new cases being reported on Wednesday.

Seven-day average test positivity, however, fell to 13%, its lowest level since July 6.



The seven-day average of new deaths increased to four, with five being reported on Wednesday.



Since the pandemic began, Wisconsin has reported more than 1.6 million cases and 13,315 deaths.

As of Thursday, 64.7% of state residents had received at least one dose of vaccine, 61.6% had completed the initial vaccine series and 35.4% had received an additional or booster dose.

Hospitalizations across the state for COVID-19 are also increasing. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported treating 493 COVID-19 patients Thursday, 9 more than Wednesday and 33 more than a week ago. Of those, 82 were in intensive care units, three more than Wednesday and 27 more than last week.

Northeast region hospitals had 64 COVID-19 patients, the same as Wednesday but 14 more than a week ago. Of those, nine were in ICUs, up two in a day and three in a week. Hospitals in the Fox Valley region reported treating 21 COVID-19 patients, two more than Wednesday but the same as a week before. Of those, two were in ICUs, one more than Wednesday but the same as last week................................................

Looking forward to the new Omicron booster in September. I hope it's free as long as possible. The kids and elderly are going to need it.
