"I want to buy into anything people can show me will reasonably reduce horrible senseless acts of violence like this, Van Hollen said.
Its not reasonable to ban a weapon, which would take that weapon over time, off the street. Is that reasonable? Until then, what we have now is working? Or should we wait till we change the subject?
But J.B would rather turn schools, what used to be a safe haven for kids, into security compounds so gun nuts can caress their hobby:
The attorney said policy-makers should look at the possibility of spending the money needed to put armed police officers in schools and at limiting the access of firearms to the mentally ill.
How would we have limited access to the mentally ill in the Newtown tragedy, take the mothers guns away? "

Im certainly not going to buy into that today. I want to buy into anything people can show me will reasonably reduce horrible senseless acts of violence like this, Van Hollen said.
The attorney said policy-makers should look at the possibility of spending the money needed to put armed police officers in schools and at limiting the access of firearms to the mentally ill.
He didnt register support or opposition to any proposal, but reserved his greatest skepticism for new gun control laws and for calls from some other Republicans to broaden state law to allow license holders to carry concealed weapons in schools.
Im also not certain it could have been prevented. Im not certain that banning AR-15 semi-automatic (rifles) with thirty-shot clips would have prevented it, Van Hollen said of the Connecticut tragedy.

Wisconsin AG Blows Kiss To Gun Lobby
How far down the right-wing rabbit hole have GOP policy-makers dragged the State of Wisconsin?
This far: Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen today attacked "knee-jerk" proposals that would ban the very type of semi-automatic rifle and high-capacity ammunition magazines used in the Newtown, CN shooting.
In an interview in the state Capitol on Tuesday, Van Hollen said some had taken a "knee-jerk" reaction to the news and that he wasn't convinced proposals to ban semiautomatic rifles and high-capacity magazines would have made any difference in this case.
"I'm certainly not going to buy into that today...."
To the good people of Newtown: "we're sorry."

I don't feel this is a well thought out action, but more of a knee jerk one....
