For now Australia is locked up tighter than a fishes butt.

I want to say bad things about Surfers and the Gold Coast but honestly that place is a guilty pleasure of mine so I wont. We even spent our honeymoon there.

Definitely the Currumbin Sancturary is a must see, make sure you are there for the Rainbow Lorikeet feeding. It´s nuts.
All of the Wally Worlds are good value too, Dreamworld is great and if you are lucky enough to book the Tiger experience then jump at it. Maybe one day I´ll get to do that. Still you can cuddle a Koala plus the rides a good.
Seaworld is another reccomendation, if you can book and stay at the resort the esperience is even better plus shuttles to everywhere else are available.

Surfers itself can be pretty tacky and touristic but still fun enough if in the right spirit, we had a good meal at an Irish pub overlooking the beach, can´t recall the name but could probably look it up, plenty of shopping and even had an enjoyable time at one of those silly walk through horror attractions.

If you are lucky and head bush you might see a Yowie even.

Skip Sydney and Melbourne, start at Surfers and head north.
