capital this weekend, where along with a more determined police presence they will confront questions about where the movement is headed.

With many of the leaders who emerged during the winter occupation either in jail, or restricted by bail conditions, the movement's current direction is unclear. 

The issue that unified the disparate groups in the first place — opposition to vaccine mandates — has lost its appeal since the federal and provincial governments have lifted most public health measures. 

In the absence of clear leadership, groups have resorted to pushing their various pet causes, everything from independence for Alberta to fabricated legal concepts such as constitutional sheriffs.

Around them, meanwhile, a large cast of characters vies for influence on the various social media channels popular within the movement.

1. They are only there to try and intimidate those they don't like.

The first time around, they wanted their own Canadian version of Jan. 6th, but were too cowardly to do anything. They might get hurt after all.

Their coup didn't happen...so resorted to things like arson against Ottawa residents that stood up to them.

The conservative-owned media bent over backwards to claim they weren't part of the convoy...of course. But that was one incident among many.

2. They are there to try and grow support for right wing nutters in Canadian heads. The

first convoy did not move the needle. This one will not either.

5. I think the arson turned out to be unrelated. Still they terrorized and

stressed the people living and working down town.

6. They definitely stressed out the residents.

Plenty of video evidence of them flipping right out at the noisy squatters, with one of standing out in my mind of a guy screaming at them about the mandates being provincial so they should be rightfully harassing Doug Ford.

But holding one of their own accountable for what he actually did ran counter to their blaming Trudeau for everything they don't like in their life.

7. The right tries to build a cult of hate against Trudeau. Recent immigrants

in the suburbs of Toronto were like "we know corruption and evil from the past and Trudeau is a good guy out to help all of us". It is unique to the west to have really good government and little corruption or oligarchy or authoritarianism. And so they voted for Liberals.

4. But wouldn't that make them the lazy welfare moochers they always whine about?

Y'know, doing nothing productive and expecting others to pay them?

8. I live 10 blocks from Parliament Hill and I can hear some male yelling

on my street. I'm not going to give him the attention he is begging for.
