Pentagon says Canada approached U.S. about doing more in Iraq and Syria

UNITED NATIONS—Prime Minister Stephen Harper sought details from the U.S. on how Canada could play a more muscular role in Syria and Iraq, an offer that led to the American letter for military assistance, according to U.S. and Canadian officials.

Pentagon officials confirmed to the Star Thursday the Canadians were willing partners who approached them.

Harper appeared to suggest Wednesday it was the U.S. who took the initiative via a letter of request he received in the “last couple of days.”

Heck. What's a guy going to do when he's got the Duff against him? And the Rob and Doug duo are going down in TO! You have to get in front of the parade. Right!

The kind of migraine that has you on your knees before the bowl, hoping to God that you can hurl and get it out.
It's a kind of politics that leaves me totally drained of spirit.

I hate politicians like him, with their whiter than white faces (in Canada, always so - in other countries, clearly "white" isn't necessary) and grey suits with the boardroom-perfect invisible pinstripe, with their deadpan unctuousness when pretending civility, and their bottom line, which is always to feed Wall St. and the US military machine.

I hate them with all my heart!

I was going to leave this as such but I had to clarify. Harper is also bought by the oil industry. I come from Calgary and I hate the slimy fecker! Oil and Harper will destroy this province and trust me, this country.

That in itself is great news if it is actually the case. Doug jumping in with the scary appearance of entitlement sent shivers up my spine 3000 kms away.

At least we have a viable opposition to Harpers global pandering.
