Happy July 4th Canada!

I can't help but notice that Canadian tv news and radio personalities always seem to take the July 4th holiday off. I've never noticed Americans taking July 1st off.

The two holidays are close together.
I myself when I worked took the week of July 1st.

Canadians take all their holidays (vacation). I had 6 weeks a year before I retired. I had seniority and in the summer stretched them taking long weekends. Some 3 day or 4 day weekends. It was nice. Funny the long lines of traffic to cottage countrt started on Thursday.

Edit for spelling and then to add a bit more. Like Canadians call their vacation days holidays.
