O wot joy, my County Council leader of the last 10 years is a Birther

http://www.krmcbe.co.uk/political_blog.htm

Very relevant to the running of Oxfordshire, I'm sure. Mitchell has always been one of the nastiest and most incompetent leaders ever. If you like libraries, don't like dangerously icy roads and pavements in the winter, and really prefer someone who doesn't spend their time insulting all their political opponents, including schoolchildren, on Twitter, Mitchell probably isn't your man. But this really takes the biscuit.

The GOOD news is that he's just retired -as leader though not as councillor.

From quite mainstream policies to things like Birthers, Truthers, Teabaggers (see Nadine Dorries MP), climate change denial (nowadays a major plank of the UK Independence Party's platform), neoconservatism and so forth.

And as to council leaders, the man who ran Essex County Council during the whole time I lived down there was Lord Hanningfield, who was jailed last year for fiddling his House of Lords expenses.

The most prominent of which would have to be Nadine Dorries, one of the more notorious back bench Tory MP's.

The Tea Party also has links to the extreme right English Defence League http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/oct/10/english-defence-league-tea-party

who may actually be known in America, because he went over there to warn in the media against America imitating what he called the '60-year mistake' of the NHS!

He also organized a 'Brighton Tea Party', against taxes and deficit spending and for cuts, in imitation of the American Tea Party rallies. But not nearly as many people turned up as he'd hoped!

Q: Has a “smoking gun” been found to prove Obama was not born a U.S. citizen? Did he attend Occidental College on a scholarship for foreign students?

A: This chain e-mail is a transparent April Fools’ Day hoax. It fabricates an AP news story about an nonexistent group, and makes false claims about Obama and the Fulbright program.

OBAMA – SMOKING GUN FINALLY FOUND?

April 1, 2009

AP- WASHINGTON D.C. – In a move certain to fuel the debate over Obama’s qualifications for the presidency, the group “Americans for Freedom of Information” has released copies of President Obama’s college transcripts from Occidental College. Released today, the transcript indicates that Obama, under the name Barry Soetoro, received financial aid as a foreign student from Indonesia as an undergraduate at the school. The transcript was released by Occidental College in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California. The transcript shows that Obama (Soetoro) applied for financial aid and was awarded a fellowship for foreign students from the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program. To qualify, for the scholarship, a student must claim foreign citizenship. This document would seem to provide the smoking gun that many of Obama’s detractors have been seeking.

Update: May 28: Kreep responded simply: “It’s all a hoax.”
