Post EU Referendum Racism Documented Online And It’s Really Scary

"Various social media accounts have begun documenting #PostRefRacism.

And it’s a bit terrifying..."

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/eu-referendum-racism_uk_576fe161e4b08d2c56396075

I think many of us, everywhere, feared that people like Farage were whipping up anti-immigrant hysteria for their own political benefit, and many who voted for "Leave" just wanted to be rid of immigrants, but had no idea what else would be taking place on political and legal forums. It's quite horrifying to read - sadly, there are racist overtones everywhere, but this looks like becoming endemic, and it's terribly sad. And not a little scary.

What is going to happen when these poor fools twig that nobody's going anywhere - and, in fact, if Britain wants to continue trading with the EU, they will have to continue accepting more immigrants?

And to think that Johnson, who was also responsible for spouting a lot of nonsense about how well off Britain would be after Brexit, could become PM. I do hope somebody with some decency will put their hand up.

against the tyranny of the globalist elite.

How dare you falsely accuse them of bigotry by taking their own reasons for voting leave at face value?

On a serious note, are the denialists on DU really going keep pretending that bigotry had nothing to do with this? I'm not saying that every person who voted leave is a vicious racist, but you can't play stupid about what's staring you right in the face because it doesn't fit your desired narrative about current events.

Asset prices have soared in the UK for a range of reasons. A significant percentage of people born in the boomer generation and immediately thereafter have not been able to participate in the greater wealth, have no hope of ever being able to do so, have no education, and nothing that will enable them to provide any product or service of value to society. They - quite rightly probably - feel that their government has failed them, that their remaining years hold little to which they might look forward, and thus they want to take it out on somebody.

The very wealthy have done very well out of this, and seem likely to be little disadvantaged or inconvenienced by it. However, it will not do for those left behind to blame the ones who perpetrated this upon them - possibly rising in some sort of (most likely futile) rebellion, so instead their anger is redirected at those who have even less than and who are even more vulnerable than themselves.

Johnny Foreigner sits conveniently to hand - the solution to everyone's problem.

adding to the disillusionment with both major parties.

But it was wrong for people leading the Leave campaign not to deal with the real issues, instead of encouraging this ugly racism.

It's pretty certain that Britain will enter into a recession, and as it starts to bite, I imagine things will get seriously ugly.

I don't think leaving is necessarily the wrong thing, but it looks as if the government didn't really plan for it.

Whenever things get tough for this government, one minister or another will invoke the "terrorist" threat. Abbott was particularly keen on that one.

And then you read about an attack on a mosque ...
