The 49-year-old has made a variety of suggestions including suspending the Commons to ensure a no-deal and that 'no-deal was better than a bad deal.'
Now Rees-Mogg is claiming that if the 2016 referendum result is overturned and MPs 'defy democracy' it will result in the rise of 'right-wing extremism.'
Speaking at his sold-out Spectator event at the London Palladium on Tuesday night, Rees-Mogg warned that any attempt to stay in the EU would result in a victory for the likes of Tommy Robinson.
If we try to stay and we stay beyond the European elections, there will only be one winner from that, and that would be Tommy Robinson.
Rees-Mogg shared an article from the Telegraph covering the quote and people were quick to point out something from Rees-Mogg's past which would contradict his opposition to the rise of right-wing extremism.

(7,888 posts)1. "Britain has never rolled over
to the threat of right wing extremism." From the David Lammy tweet in the article above.
So, Mr. Rees-Mogg is a friend and supporter of the Steve Bannon anarchist, drown government brigade?
Britain and the US are both suffering from outside foreign influences in our political affairs. imo

(8,975 posts)2. I have to applaud Rees-Mogg's honesty.
His ultimate base, his handy band of enforcers, consists of "Tommy Robinson", née Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, and his followers.
And obviously, faced with threats from the far right, the only thing to do is capitulate. Once we give them what they want, they'll be satisfied and the threats will evaporate.
Right?
