One thing I will say in the UK's defence is that our equivalent of the Tea Party, UKIP, is a separate political party with a built-in ceiling on its share of the vote, rather than holding one of two major parties to ransom, as in the US.

both that someone would have to fill the gap left by Breitbart, and that that someone would OBVIOUSLY be James Delingpole.

PS: I note that Ed West is also leaving the Torygraph. Don't tell me he's joining the same outfit!

good enough to lure established RWers away from what I presume were steady jobs, with good pay. Breitbart just looks like a joke to me - incompetent people doing a Wil. E. Coyote routine of pausing in the air after the support of Breitbart himself (who was savvy about how to run a website in the US, however much of a political idiot he was) has been taken away. I wouldn't think the UK has the wingnuts willing to switch to a new version of RW crap (seeing how conservative they are, by definition).

...I've never heard of Breitbart.

If I were a right-winger I'd be delighted that Delingpole is leaving the Telegraph. An awful click-bait merchant whose sole purpose in life appears to be to discredit the right wing by being as extreme and rigidly ideological as possible.

But then I suppose there will be others willing to plow the same furrow of bad opinions for money in his place.

Andrew Breitbart was a RW website owner and professional troll, closely associated with the fake interviews James O'Keefe did which brought down the ACORN organisation. You'll get a lot of hits if you search DU for the name. He died of a sudden heart attack, aged 43, a couple of years ago.
