3. Is Omar more liberal or more conservative than the great Paul Wellstone?

Wellstone was a progressive Democrat. From 1991-2002 . The National and State Democratic Party was middle of road.
The current National and State Democratic Party is more progressive.

6. Wellstone didn't have things like Islamophobia working against him.

Omar's congressional district is the bluest of the blue, and even there she's faced credible primary challenges.

Then again, the previous Representative from that same CD5 was Keith Ellison, a Muslim sworn in on the Koran, who has since gone on to win statewide office as Attorney General

7. How would the 2026 MN Democratic Gov/Lt Gov ticket do with Omar on the ticket as Lt Gov?

Omar can use the Lt Governors position as a stepping stone to run for the US Senate.
Ellison is one of the leading Democratic candidates for MN Governor along with Lt Governor Peggy Flanagan, Secretary of State Steve Simon, and Auditor Julie Blaha.
Simon won 3 statewide election, Secretary of State in 2014,2018,and 2022. Simon won the 2018 and 2022 MN Secretary of State Election by a 9 percent margin.
Ellison and Blaha won their statewide elections in MN by a narrow margin(less than 1 percent).
Flanagan was Governor Walz’s runningmate in 2018 and 2022. Flanagan is a Native American, community organizer, and was a member of the Wellstone Action. Flanagan has worked on Wellstone’s last US Senate campaign.
A Flanagan/Omar Governor/Lt Governor ticket in 2026 will be an exciting ticket.

8. It's all pretty speculative, I guess.

There are always a lot of factors that are difficult to quantify or qualify. One is the question of whether Omar has any wish to give up her House seat for a run at another office. Her MN CD5 is a very, very safe congressional district that a Democratic incumbent can likely hold for as long as she or he wishes to.

9. The perfect MN Democratic US House member to run for and become the next US Senator is Angie Craig.

Represents a swing district(like Elissa Slotkin of MI)
Member of the US House Agriculture,Energy and Commerce, and Small Business. Klobuchar is a member of the US Senate Agriculture and Commerce Committee. Smith is a member of the US Senate Agriculture Committee.
Member of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus and the Congressional Pro Choice Caucus.

Ilhan Omar is the strong primary candidate(energizes the Democratic base) while Angie Craig is a strong general election candidate(appeals to Independents and rural voters).
