Barbara Boxer would be the perfect, most qualified person to serve out Dianne's term. I wonder if Gavin's thinking along those lines.

Well past retirement age. Surely California has some other Democrat in her 40s or 50s (literally 3 decades younger) who can fill that slot. I certainly hope Gavin isn’t considering that option.

I'm just saying... if she'll do it, Boxer knows the job, the voters love her, and it's only for a what? Eighteen months?

I no longer live in the state, so my opinion in the matter is just another post on a DU thread.

I'd favor someone who can sit on the judiciary committee unless another Democrat is a better choice right now.

Rumor is that the repubs won't block a replacement on the committee. (sure)
