I had my first experience with Win 8 today
They just purchased a Dell Venue at work and had a problem with the screen dimming too fast. I was able to find the setting in the control panel on my tablet running 7 pro and attempted to do the same to the Dell. One problem, I couldn't find the control panel. I typed "control panel" into the search box and clicked on the first result and it took me to a web page which told me to type "control panel" into the search box.
On my tablet, all I have to do is push the big Windows button below the screen and touch on control panel.

I move the cursor to either the upper right or lower right of the screen, and get a set of icons on the right side of the screen. One of those icons is Settings, and clicking on it brings up a menu that includes Control Panel.
Anyone else with a Dell and Windows 8?

(2,805 posts)Windows key plus the x button will give you a list with control panel on it.
Also windows key plus c will open the charms list,
or on the tile page there is a down arrow under the desktop tile that opens the Apps by name page which has the windows system items on there scroll far right.
I don't have a touch screen so I have my win 8.1 to open the regular (not tile) screen when I log on.
Here's a good link for win 8.1 users.

(15,512 posts)On your desktop, the start button looks like your start-page, and on your start page, like your desk-top. Control panel is on the menu. Clever eh?
