for as little as $90.00 at Amazon...it's just the key, you have to download it. You can get Office 2013 for about $139.00 from Amazon. That's about the best price I have seen.

Windows 7 isn't Office so the key wouldn't work.

Do you mean an Office key for Office that you had on your Windows 7 machine?

5. You will have to DE-ACTIVATE Office on the Windows 7 machine.

Google it for instructions.

Then you should be able to download and/or install from your disks, and re-activate with the old key.

It may involve many annoying hitches, as this is a Microsoft product, after all.

helpfully,
Bright

Tried it, didn't work so think I will just go with a new product. Two problem, I am not renting the product (Office 365) and am anxious about my old files being compatible. Still shopping. Thank you for the help

From BuyCheapSoftware.com You will have to download the program, though.

I've bought software from BuyCheapSoftware.com for years and have always been satisfied. My only relationship with them is as a customer.

By the way, you could do as has been suggested and uninstall your existing version from your old computer and try to install on your new computer. BUT I just went through that with a friend. It took a couple of hours of time on the phone with Microsoft Customer Service - she had no installation discs and the service rep help download the program, install it, authorize it, and register it. About half the time was taken with downloading and it was a good thing the customer service rep was there since the slow connection kept timing out and they had to restart it for us.

Another note - if you need Outlook, do NOT get Home & Student since that version does not include it.

On the other hand you can get WordPerfect Office X3 for $17 from BuyCheapSoftware.com. I used it on Win 7 so it would probably work with Win 8. I ended up getting WordPerfect X6 as a download from Amazon for under $40 for my new computer - my husband is using X3 on his computer.

I detested Open Office - many of the things I take for granted with WordPerfect could not be done with OpenOffice. Or if they could, they would not tell anyone how. I feel almost the same antipathy for Microsoft Office, LOL.
