Looking for Gaming Computer

Hi folks,

Went through a tragedy recently and decided that I really need a way to blank out. As it is, I'm bedridden and can pretty much only do stuff on my laptop, but it's starting to show its age. I was only able to afford this one due to back pay from winning my disability case.

If someone out there has a gaming laptop they've retired for an affordable price, something better than mine, I'd appreciate it. I can't even have more than $2000, and the new model Alienware suggests is $1877, which is basically impossible. Their upgrades department said I already have as much RAM as I can, and my GPU is soldered on, so ...

Anyway, here's some info I have. Please feel free to PM me if you have anything. Even if it's used, so long as it's better and affordable, I'd be deeply grateful for a look.

Some info I can provide on what I currently have ...

Alienware M15x
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i7 CPU - Q 740 @ 1.73GHz (8 CPUs), ~1.7GHz
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M (Approx. Total Memory 4GB)

Thanks very much.

1. Is it slower than when you bought it. ( it's starting to show its age. )
2. Have to thought of buying a SSD and reinstalling 7 ?
3. Is your page file large enough. ?

Might be..you need to clear out junk that slows a computer down...speed up the access time and a few other little tricks.
Your machine is not exactly an outdated one by THAT much.

Of course all the new ones have Windows 8/8.1 on them but installing Classic Shell and tweaking it a little will make it look and act like 7.

They don't mind calls for suggestions, they have good support info and a good messageboard that may help clean-up your Alienware to where it runs like new again for gaming.

I have a separate (very cheap)PC I use for messageboards/Netflix/websurfing. I put a "TP-Link" wireless USB adapter on that PC so it doesn't need to be wired to my modem. even Netflix runs great wireless so that PC can be anywhere in the house I want.

My game computers are wired to the DSL modem. Games run fastest wired. I have an older Alienware and a 2nd, desktop I got from cyberpower, one of their weekly specials. Here's the link, have fun!!

cool looking weekly special, http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Halloween_Fang_EVO_HX7
