How to dI get rid of this error message?
The paid version of AVG was installed in error. I tried to get rid of it and subscribe to the free version. I get this message several times a day.
avgmfapx.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close: Up[on further checkinf, this is what it tells me.
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1408.dir00\avgmfapx.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1408.dir00\appcompat.txt
It seems that when I uninstalled AVG(paid version), I may have missed something. I Used Revo.
I keep getting this error message.
AVG does not show in my programs (add & remove), neither does it show in Revo or anywhere else.
Any idea how I can get rid of this? One instruction suggested I remove this Value from the registry. I'm too much of a novice to do that.
Anything other than the usual easy stuff scares me to death. Help, Please.

(7,475 posts)Early this am I saw your message. Nothing ventured.....
I used the AVG remover tool and, after a whole day, there have been no error messages.
After using this tool, I was scared to death. I know nothing about what they were telling me but there were about 16 inches of print in the log. Some things deleted, other things not found. Other stuff, I don't even know what it means.
I hope this does the job.
I thank you for your advice.
Keep your fingers crossed.

(47,675 posts)It sounds like you just need to delete the files. The path SHOULD be C:\Documents\Owner\Local_User\Tem\WER1408.dir00.
regedit is seriously dangerous, but sometimes it is the only way to deal with problems. From what you wrote, I don't think that's the issue.

Reboot
I use Eusing Free Registry Cleaner to remove the orphaned registry entries.

I have been doing this for years on stubborn programs removals and never a problem.
