A stupid question about my old AOL account
I have this AOL account I have had for about 20 years. I check-in and look at the non-spam messages about once every month or two.
Evidently, AOL required I change my password from a commonly known word associated with my life to something involving numbers, letters, uppercase, lowercase.
Of course, I forgot that. So I went to the "forgot password" option... and it doesn't work. I put in the AOL name, put the letters in the "what you see" box.. and .... and ... and.... nothing happens when I click on the "NEXT" button.
So is AOL dead? Do I have some blocks on my computer that doesn't allow me to go to the next step?
Basic question: what is blocking me from re-setting my password on AOL?

(725 posts)I followed the directions from your link, which brought me to the same page for re-setting the password I had tried before.
Nothing happens when I put in my aol screen name and the letter-number code AOL wants me to see and verify.
The browser just sits there forever, no response when I click "next".

(725 posts)So no need to stay on the phone line waiting another 20 minutes for AOL to have a real person talk to me.
AOL was my first internet experience, about 21 years ago. Probably true for millions of Americans, who dialed-up once a day to find out that they won a million dollars from someone in Nigeria.
I used that account for about 10 years before I found out Gmail and other places were acceptable alternatives.
