I have an older model (2010?) Dell Laptop still running Windows7. Will I *have to* download
Widows10 eventually in order to be compatible ? ugh.
I hope not but, it has been acting :wonky: the past couple of days and, it makes me wonder.
Also, I have a newer model (2012?) Toshiba Laptop that I already loaded Windows10 and my cursor disappeared. Is it due to Windows10 or has the sensor on my fingerpad finally given up?
Any thoughts/help/advice/comments appreciated.
Thanks!

(1,005 posts)And Windows 10 fixed a lot of issues I had with things running slow or slightly strange. Anyway, you've got 30 days to decide if you want to keep it, so I say give it a try,

(2,805 posts)On the touchpad issue , I would suggest going to Toshiba's website and (although often confusing) and go to Support and enter your model number. This is the confusing part even though you read the model number off the white tag on the bottom of the laptop, Toshiba often has a different number for that laptop. Google can help match them up. Once you have the correct model look for something like touchpad driver.
If you give the model number from the white tag on the bottom maybe someone here can find the compatible driver and see if loading that will help.

(2,805 posts)It is straight forward and I have never had any crashes like I did see in XP.
Win10 just seems like a gimmick to me. MS is going towards subscription based software and when enough users switch over the will start charging a yearly fee. I can certainly be wrong but something about it and Win 8 or Win 8.1 seem wrong.
If Win7 works for you then don't fall for any need for change. You can change your own wallpaper to give your system a suddenly new look. No need to "upgrade" to Win10

(3,655 posts)with a fresh install of 7 to make it work like new. Or just a fresh install if you can't afford the upgrade. Win 7 is supported to 2020
