New computer: Lenovo Windows 10 They want me to use Microsoft Edge as my browser. I like Chrome

They said Microsoft Edge will work better with Windows 10.

You know all the things you have to do when you get a new computer. I don't feel like using Edge. I'm use to Chrome. Does it make that much of a difference?

Thanks so much in advance

1. Chrome is superior right now to Edge

I don't use it very often, so feel free to stay with Chrome. You can go into Control Panel and make sure Chrome is still your default browser.

2. Use whatever you are comfortable with. It only makes a difference for some things

For example, Google Drive, Google Apps, etc. work better with Google Chrome.

Most of the time it doesn't really make a difference as long as you have a modern updated browser

3. Just set your default browser to Chrome.

That's what I did and haven't been bothered since.

4. As I understand it, Edge will be quite a beast in the future ...

... but right now, Chrome is better because it supports add-ons and extensions. I don't know why Microsoft released an unfinished product with Edge, because it'll get an unnecessarily bad reputation before it's finished, which is a shame, really.

5. Edge is designed to work in conjunction with the Windows digital assistant, Cortana.

In other words, if you make a non-Windows browser program your default, then, when you ask internet search-based questions of Cortana, the program's results might render error messages instead of helpful pages.

You don't have to use Edge to browse the web but you might want to keep it as the default browser if you wish to take full advantage of Cortana.

6. I have used Edge, Chrome and Firefox

I thought Edge was good, (simply copied chrome interface) I like the screen reader which removes web garbage and presents the page as a book page to read. The annotation tool was also very useful. That being said I like the versatility with Chrome and Firefox as there are numerous addons to support most functions you are looking for. (no addons for Edge at the moment).

For pure integration I would go for Chrome.

7. They should have named Edge, Sledge

Because it's about as slow as one.
Chrome is fast, but Firefox is faster, on any platform.
