ISP Disconnects several times a day

This is usual for summertime around here, but I also get notices that sites are not secure, first time that's ever happened. Also get instances of websites just hanging - eBay and elsewhere. Very unusual for line maintenance in the evening, they usually quit by 5 or rarely 6 pm. So are these problems attributable to

disconnect to ISP, reboot your device offline, stay disconnected- reconnect to ISP after reboot, online run a "update your device" and then run a scan with virus protection.

If your using your phone only connected to wifi- contact your ISP and ask why disconnected.

Verizon Hi-Speed Internet with a wireless router. D-Link 2750B. Linux Mint Cinnamon. There is some virus protection with it, but it's not something that scans. I'm vaguely aware there is an online Verizon dashboard, but will check it out. Customer Service walked me through connection issues last year, but I don't recall the ability to update firmware. I thought that was rarely if ever updated on an old router.

THANKS for the pointers, something to pursue tonight!

I think- input internal IP in browser header and it should come up- (you may need to google how exactly, I forgot)

I have an old router too but it works well- I usually wire for best connection, wifi is much slower and to slow for my games. Once in a while I find that pinhole in router and/or the tiny reset button and reset the entire router. I suffered with Verizon for many years.

It is frustrating constant disconnects- Verizon can fix it- keep getting on their ass, call them- ask to speak to tech-good luck!

by the way you can make Verizon give you a credit for "poor connectivity" , sometimes it's worth calling billing every time you have troubles. I've gotten quite a few credits on bills
