doesn't offer any life-time deals that I can see. Spyware needs to be update regularly to be effective, how will this happen.

The one-time registration fee unlocks the real time protection and automatic zupdates, and can be transferred to a new computer when you disable it from your old computer - that's what they mean by lifetime.

The retail boxed version used to include lifetime phone support too, don't know if they still do.
