Is there a replacement for MS Photo Gallery ?

It was part of Windows Essentials and has not been around for some years.
I had to replace my old laptop, which had it, and would like to get it on my new laptop.

The feature I like best it the ability to lighten a photo when it is too dark.

Any (helpful) suggestions ?

Thanks

Hello left-of-center2012, Picasa has been discontinued by google but can still be downloaded as shown above. It is a basic application with many options, easy to use and best of all free!

I see options for correcting color ... nothing to adjust how light the picture is.
May be missing it.

Brightness is on the left hand side but you can end up with a washed out effect. On the right is Contrast, Gamma and Saturation.

I have found befunky (a free online photo editor) quite easy to use. I did not include a link but it's easy to find.
