I can't connect with Skype on any of my laptops - SOLVED!!!

I have three laptops... all can connect to the internet and all my favorite sites... except Skype. One of the laptops is brand new.

Any ideas?

(Turns out I needed a new router)

3. I can't even get to skype.com to download the program on my new laptop

Could it be a router issue?

I'm kinda desperate to get this working so I can talk to my Mom who has progressive dementia... skype not working is really, really confusing her.

4. im on skype right now . no issues . using a early macbook pro and big sur.

5. Yeah, my sister and Mom were able to connect via their computers

So I know that Skype itself isn't the issue.

6. Sounds like a security software/firewall issue to me. Check your settings for whatever you are using

to see if you need to enter an "exception" for Skype.

7. Firewalls look okay

I took one of the laptops to a repair shop and it instantly connected to Skype. Got home and nothing. Guy at store couldn't explain it.

8. Have you rebooted your modem/router?

I didn't see that mentioned.

Rebooted... removed power and powered up again. Reboot again...

11. New router saved the day!

Spent about an hour and a half on the phone with Comcast support. Plugged in a activated the new router and voila!!

Whew.
