We want to set up a video phone conversation with our uncle, using these phones -- FaceTime and whatever app the Android offers.

WhatsApp is easy and convenient for video calls. Also audio calls and to leave vocal messages and written messages and send photos.

Facetime is an Apple product. There is a way to generate a link that an Android user may use, but the call will need to be initiated by an iphone user:

Alternatively, there are conferencing apps which do not care what operating system you use. These include Skype, Whatsapp and Google Meet. To use any of them, each person will need to install the corresponding app and set up a user account.

5. I'm in the same boat with a friend of mine; I have an iPhone and he has an Android.

We use what used to be called Google Duo; now it's called Meet. Works well, no cost to the users.

Meet is compatible with both iPhones and the Android.

It's a lot of fun too!

Supposedly, it is the easiest to use.

Skype is another solution, works ok between macOS, windows, Android, iOS. Easy to use.

My wife's dad, in his nineties, comfortably uses it.

As some kind of sixty-year-old Luddite autistic spectrum paranoid, I don't.

Ordinary phone calls are difficult enough for me.

In my family tradition you only call someone long distance when something horrible has happened and there's some immediate and generally unpleasant action that needs to be taken.

It’s a very secure messaging app and allows criss-platform video calls. No cost to use it.
