How to check if a university network in another state is down ?

I don't know who provides their connection to the Internet, or how to see if it is up or not.

I'm trying to access pages at claflin.edu but they keep timing out.

Down for more than a week ! That sounds like a crisis ...

ETA: their page on Facebook is up. I hope that's not the only way to reach them.
