RealPlayer update (Trojan alert!!!)
folks!
I was updating one of my old computers and it said that it needed to update RealPlayer.
So, I downloaded and installed "it" from
http://www.real.com/realplayer.
I ran a scan with SUPERAntiSpyware 5.6.1014 on said computer after the install and it found a serious trojan in it.
I deleted the program via the Control Panel in Windows XP and have removed it. I tried to delete the folder that it is in from the HD but it would not allow it so it is still there. It also had a plug-in in the add-ons and I disabled that as well.
THE NAME OF THE FILE that you need to get rid of is this:
realcleaner.exe
If you don't believe it, run a search on realcleaner.exe and it will show up in a folder in RealPlayer/real, etc. in the Programs file on your HD.
Get rid of it fast!
I thought I had gotten rid of it but it came back again and I deleted it again with the same named tool (SUPERAntiSpyware 5.6.1014 free edition btw!).
I did a bit of searching via Google and most threads have been locked on this.
The name of the trojan is: Trojan.Agent/Gen-FraudScan[Prod]
Some are saying it is a "false positive" but it is not! I found the actual file doing a search before I did the scan with the SUPERAntiSpyware. DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT install the new RealPlayer update as you'll have a huge nightmare to deal with.

I managed to get rid of it after running the same tool again and it came up clean finally.
Another UGH and wow what a waste of time!
