Games to Download

I have a friend who is going to be in housing at the VA during his radiation and chemo therapy and he won't have any internet connection. Does anyone know of a good website to download computer games that can be played offline?

It appears that many of the websites that offer free games are not safe to download from.

Thanks in advance.

A simple, fun, offline game I have played is LaserTank.

You have to have a Yahoo account so you can access the group and download the files (and new maps) but once you've downloaded and installed it you don't need to be online. And there are literally thousands of levels to play.

Easy to learn, so many levels - user-created, etc.

I'll pass that on to him. He's got a rough road in front of him and games are a good diversion.

They have some free ones. Peggle and Peggle Nights are fun games, but I'm not sure if they're still free or if you have to pay a small fee.

Does he have access to an iPad or an iPhone? If so, Link Bridge is fun (there are 4 or 5 of them - Link Bridge, Hexic Flow...) There is also a game called Dots. Easy to play and get addicted to. They're free, so you can play offline. If he likes word games, Virble is fun.

Check out the wiki page here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_commercial_video_games_released_as_freeware

The titles are numbered (by notation under the 'Freeware Release' column), follow the links at the bottom that correspond to the numbers to get the game. Not all of them still work but there are a good number.
