Please help me with email

A week ago I lost my email and after being passed from person to person at ATT I hang up and found emailhelper, net on the internet. I registered with them and later tried to call. On Friday I registered again and later called and got thru -- a miracle I did not understand at the time.

I paid and a technician did a lot of good work on my computer and cleaned up stuff and installed some security stuff. And made an appt for Monday morning at 8 am to help with the email.

That appt was a no show on the part of email helper. I sat at my computer with my phone from 8 - 9 am. After that I called many times and said when I would be home. No help. No response.

My contact with them has just been terminated.

Do any of you have any ideas for another service that can help me get my email back?? And I have another computer that needs that clean out and am willing to do it. But refuse to use email helper again. They never responded to my phone calls. Good technicians but lousy ethics.

Thanks.

I have a couple questions.

You say you lost your email. Do you mean that when you opened up the program to see what new email had come in there was no old email there?

Do you know, off the top of your head, what program (if any) you use to check your email. I have guesses, but do not want to bias the answer.

Hi
Thanks. I mean I could not access my account at all. When I put in my name and code, it came up saying nothing matched. When I went to email helper they told me my computer had a lot of stuff clogging it up and it needed to be cleaned out and they did that. In theory I should have been able to get to my email then. However, I was my own worst enemy and I had already spent an hour on the ATT site and really messed things up. The I called ATT and was passed around to four people. When it was time for number five I hang up. But maybe I need to try again.

I am not answering your question and I do not know the answer. I am on Windows 8 and I have been using ATT. Just opened a new email on gmail.

You may want to take your computer to a local tech and see if any of the "help" they gave you needs to be undone.

You need to explain what you mean by "lost my email". 1 or 2 lost messages? All messages lost? Cannot connect to the email server to send and receive?

Most likely ATT (your ISP?) is really only the ones that can help you, depending on the problem.

I agree, need to go to someone local. This has become too much of a tangle.
When I said lost email, when I try to go to email, I cannot access my email.
I hope at some point I will understand what happened!

if you're using Outlook or Outlook Express, try renaming your current email profile, and then set up a new one. if that works, and you didn't configure your email client to download email from the server, you can then delete the old profile.

I do not know! I have windows 8 and am using ATT for email. Does that help? I like the idea. I am going to talk with a local tech person early next week. I cannot access the account. I did call and got passed around and when the 4th was passing me to the 4th, I got frustrated and hang up. And now that I have calmed down -- smile -- I will try again. Thank you for responding. I was feeling so alone!
