Another question Re: DVD

I tried my DVDRWBD and I can play CDs, DVDs, and BDs in it. Given that I have that capability, is there any reason I need to be in a hurry to replace the DVD....something I'm not thinking of? I even tried my Windows 7 DVD in the BD and it opened it okay.

I really didn't know the BD drive would do that. ohheckyeah Oct 2013 #2
Typically, if a drive can write to Blueray, it can also write to DVD and CD PrestonLocke Oct 2013 #3

A CD drive will only play CDs, a DVD will play both CD and DVD, and a BD will play them all.

Will it also write to all three? If so, it makes me wonder why I need both.

Thank you for the help!

There is nothing wrong with having multiple disc drives.

In a situation where you would like to, say copy a dvd, you could put the blank dvd into one drive and the dvd you would like to copy in the other. This would speed up your copying time since the computer doesn't need to copy the data to its hard drive first.

Many times, different disc drives will read different discs better or worse, so if you run into a situation where you have a damaged disc that one drive cannot read, it's possible the other will be able.

using the BluRay drive. I'm going to order and replace the DVD drive myself.....or at least try to install it myself.
