eta: If you have a paid copy of Win8, you can do this via Windows Store.

(9,314 posts)I just click on the start button, then documents, and the download folder is listed on the top left. Windows 8, I don't know. Sorry.

(18,479 posts)...would be: C:\Users\MyName\Downloads
This may depend on your browser so YMMV.

(37,457 posts)It's probably a Windows Update thing, so I'll go check there.

(37,457 posts)it's a TMP file modified 659 PM, so I'm guessing that's it.

(3,655 posts)And pay attention to where the browser wants to put it. After you find that out, you can cancel the download.

(34,105 posts)and not even near it, also I am just learning it. This may be stupid or not but here is what I have found. There is a little green arrow at the top of your browser window when downloading, I seem to recall clicking it and finding something. Also use you charms, go to the search and type in downloads. Try that. I always forget about the charms but that search will help you find lots of things that you thought should be somewhere else.

(5,400 posts)Windows handled the install automatically after I clicked to download it. I went out and when I came back Windows was saying it would reboot soon, I could click to reboot now.
I assume the download went to a temporary folder, I used the disk cleanup utility (under Administrative Tools) to get rid of all the temporary stuff and the backup of my old install. Those options have to be selected.
