Curious about ACA system

Does anyone here know how it works? I still can't get on, but I am curious - since I work implementing systems in banks.

Let's just say, I am 40 years old with no pre-existing conditions. Let's just say there are 5 insurance choices for me to pick from.

First of all, does the ACA system actually have the tables from each of the 5 insurers? Or does the ACA interface with each provider each time a quote request comes in? Then, does the ACA system have all the algorithms in it to point me to the right quote based on my age/condition?
