Help deciding on a new PC monitor
I have an old and outdated Samsung Syncmaster 216bw currently:

I've tried adjusting/calibrating this montor over the years but have never been that happy with it. I am running it on an XFX Raedon HD4870 DVI video card currently but it's the same issues no matter what card:
A "washed out" look.
Whites to glaring in photos.
A dull picture to my eyes.
Not crisp enough.
My eyes need sharp and bright as I get older plus the added size of 23" might be helpful.
I like Costco due to their ease of return should I not like what I buy (plus they are a good company).
Anyway I have been looking at these two:
Viewsonic 23" Frameless LED Full HD IPS Monitor

Dell 23" Full HD LED Monitor
http://www.costco.com/Dell-23%22-Full-HD-LED-Monitor-%5b1920-x-1080%5d--.product.100019103.html
Will I notice a big difference from what I currently have?
Are there any others in this range you'd suggest also?
I will be doing typical home computer stuff like looking at photos, editing videos from my GoPro, etc...not much gaming these days.
thanks!!

(9,314 posts)DELL UltraSharp U2212HM 21.5" Monitor. I bought this instead of a bigger one because I wanted one that would fit inside the opening of my hutch.
I notice a HUGE difference between the UltraSharp and other Dell monitors and my Acer monitor.
I do a lot of photo editing and freelance writing.

... the Dell seems to better in the controls area rather than the Viewsonic according to the reviews.

(23,224 posts)...the store wouldn't honor the warranty (even with the receipt!), so I'm not a big fan of Viewsonic. I currently have a Samsung Syncmaster 2253 that's going strong after almost five years, and I'm pretty happy with it. But you might also look at a Vizio--they seem to have very good picture. Big thing with monitors is the refresh rate--higher is better. The faster it refreshes, the easier it will be on your eyes. My two cts.
