Retrieving Chrome tabs after crash
I've spent several hours researching this online a couple of times without a good answer and am throwing my hands up. This is the 3rd time this has happened: Chrome suddenly shuts itself down, and when I relaunch it, the "reopen closed tab" option is grayed out and CTRL+Shift+T doesn't work to bring back the tabs, either. Of course I can go back through my browsing history but that is a time-consuming PITA since some of these tabs have been open for quite a few days.
I'd previously done this, which was suggested on a few websites to solve the problem, but clearly didn't:
1. Go to chrome://flags
2. Find: Enable Instant Extended API Mac, Windows, Chrome OS
3. Set it to 'Disabled'.
Many people have complained about this online.
I also cleaned and defragged via auslogic last week because it had been running slowly, which brought it back up to normal speed. Thought everything was fine. I also added the 'too many tabs' extension to put less of a load on chrome since I often have upwards of 20 tabs open. I can't find the too many tabs that were 'held' either but I haven't looked into that issue. FWIW, yesterday it was running a little slowly before it shut itself down.
Anyone know how to:
1) prevent this from happening again (besides using fewer tabs) and
2) recover the tabs I had open - or in Too Many Tabs - at this point
Thanks!
