New iPad 12.9 - unable to get any Apps to download, even those purchased and on the iCloud

Is there a trick to downloading Apps? I had an iPad Pro 11 and it downloaded quickly and never an issue.

Trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm not getting any messages, it just spins...

I access APPS

Search for what I want

It brings it up, i click GET and that's as far as I can go. It never asks for my apple ID, etc.

thank you.

Have you turned off and on the iPad yet? Not just the normal dark screen, but a real power-down and reboot?

If it still fails to download apps after a real power cycle, I'd suggest going to settings and logging out of the iCloud (store) and then logging back it. It could be a problem trying to figure out your app store login status.

And no, there's no trick. It should "just work"
