Zo I look it up and it's about a $300 repair. I look up how to do the repair DIY it does not seem to hard. DIY and some glitches show up (no face ID)
I take off the protective case, Lo and behold I totally forgot I put on a glass screen protector which I THOUGH was crazy expensive at $36 bucks but I got two.
It turns out only the glass after market screen protector broke NOT THE IPHONE SCREEN.
Happy dance. 💃🕺
Replaced the broken screen protector with a replacement and everything is golden..
I'm a happy man..😁

(8,821 posts)the glass screen protector is the first thing I install as soon as I buy a new phone. As a matter of fact, I get the store to do it when I buy the phone. They are pricy but as you found it, they can save you from even pricier disasters.

I could tell you stories about him, all day long. ---- like the time, around '92. He bought a cell phone. One of the big brick ones that you carried in your car and could also be detached as portable.
So he takes it to his son's Little league game. Puts it in a tree so's it wouldn't get hit be a foul ball. Then he forgot where he left it. (Alcohol probably involved). But he had his business card taped to the base.
Next morning, comes a call from the police department. "Someone found your phone. it was on a tree branch."
Our accountant was in the office. "Pete, what's that, your branch office?"

(15,875 posts)that makes it easy to install. Each screen comes with a wet cleaning swab, a dry swab and a cleaning cloth. From the box "ultra transparent" (so clear I forgot I had installed it)
3X shatter protection (hammer proof?) 9H hardness rating (what ever that means).
Hope that helps.
