Galaxy 5 and linux

I've got a galaxy 5 thats broken so it can't be used for a phone anymore but it still connects to my wifi. What I'd like to do is install Linux on it if that is possible. I seem to have read that there is a version of linux that can be installed on it but for the life of me can't remember which it was or where I read that.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

No real reason other than something to play with when I get bored with all my other toys

How to install Linux on an Android phone

The guide sideloads any of several Linux distros, but doesn't replace Android. Your device must be rooted, and Techradar's guide relies on the Complete Linux Installer app, which only has two written reviews on Google Play, none of which are encouraging.
